If the best budget Android phone is what you looking then here are five to choose from. They are a whole lot more than just budget phones. Let’s review and you’ll see why.

  • Good battery life
  • Quick fast charge
  • Good capture of photo colors and detail

REASONS NOT TO BUY

  • Not waterproof
  • Wobbles when placed on flat surfaces
  • Photo and video capture lacks sharpness

The first best budget android phone on the list is the Huawei P30 Lite. It’s a budget mid-range smartphone that comes with premium looks, a big 6-inch screen, and a triple camera setup. Inside the phone are standard specs that guarantee good performance at this range with good battery life, and good storage space.

The Huawei P30 Lite is literally ‘light’ in all aspects. It doesn’t have the premium specs of a top-range smartphone but it does get the job done as a budget phone. If you’re a young adult or student and looking for a smartphone that’s easy on the budget, looks good, and performs well, then this phone here’s for you.

Should you buy this phone? Yes, but in my opinion, there are so many other affordable android phones out there that are better and even cheaper. So I say keep looking around. If not, then get this phone as a last resort.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro

  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh
  • Weight: 200 g
  • Release Date: September 2019
  • Overall Rank: 4.7 out of 5

REASONS TO BUY

  • Good quality display
  • Great stylish design with great color choices
  • Good sound output
  • Micro SD slot to increase storage
  • Great for gaming
  • Good battery life
  • Captures good quality pictures
  • Up to 4K video recording

REASONS NOT TO BUY

  • Heavy
  • Minor water resistance
  • Takes mediocre quality ultra-wide pictures

The next phone on our best budget Android phone list is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. This budget mid-range phone comes with a large 6.5-inch display with a quad-lens camera and a stylish design. internally, the phone comes with a good performance at this range, with good battery life, and great storage.

All this is packaged at an affordable price.

I did say that this is a mid-range phone. Yet it comes with great features that almost would otherwise put it in the top range of phones. It does have some noticeable flaws though. Upon holding it, it’s got a bit more weight, but it’s all thanks to the big 4000mAh battery.

Don’t go testing the water resistance now by dropping it into the water, but it can take a few splashes or sprinkles. It takes some nice portrait pictures and great 4K videos, but the ultra-wide pictures are not as sharp.

There is really a lot to say about this phone. All this premium package is from a budget phone and comes at an affordable price. I’d say get it now! This phone’s for those who want a smartphone that offers a little more than standard features. Gamers too can appreciate this phone as it plays 3D games pretty well.

Overall, this is one good phone to consider getting. However, it’s not as widely available to purchase but it’s out there. Check out the brand for other similar spec phones but if you can find this one, and have the cash, get it. You won’t be disappointed.

Honor 10 Lite

  • Display: 6.21″ LCD touchscreen (1080 x 2340)
  • OS: Android 9.0 (Pie)
  • CPU: Kirin 710
  • Storage: 32/64/128GB
  • RAM: 3/4/6GB RAM
  • MainCam: 13 MP, f/1.8 (wide); 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)
  • SelfieCam: 24 MP, f/2.0 (wide)
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 3400 mAh
  • Weight: 162 g
  • Release Date: November 2018
  • Overall Rank: 3.8 out of 5

REASONS TO BUY

  • Good premium design
  • Easy to use and hold single-handed
  • Good battery life
  • Takes decent images
  • A responsive rear fingerprint scanner

REASONS NOT TO BUY

  • Micro-USB instead of USB-Type C
  • No fast charging
  • No 4K video recording
  • Mediocre OS performance

The 3rd on the list of the best budget Android phone is the Honor 10 Lite. This is another budget mid-range phone with a dual camera, sleek design, and a big 6-inch display. Inside is a phone with a standard performance at its range with decent performance, decent storage space, and good battery life.

The Honor 10 Lite is a budget phone, so expect standard features from this one. Yes, it has good minor features but lacks the tech that similarly priced phones do.

Overall, this is a phone made for young adults, teens, and adults looking for a phone that can do standard everyday tasks.  It does the job well with premium looks and design, good battery life, and camera features but lacks other features that you can, unfortunately, find in other affordable phones.

It’s not an easy phone to recommend given that it’s got a huge competition, but it’s a mobile phone worth considering for those who don’t need all the high-tech gadgets.

Motorola Moto E6 Plus

  • Display: 6.1″ LCD touchscreen (720 x 1560)
  • OS: Android 9.0 (Pie)
  • CPU: Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22
  • Storage: 32/64GB
  • RAM: 2/4GB RAM
  • MainCam: 13 MP, f/2.0; 2 MP, (depth)
  • SelfieCam: 8 MP, f/2.0
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh
  • Weight: 149.7 g
  • Release Date: September 2019
  • Overall Rank: 3.8 out of 5

REASONS TO BUY

  • Good battery life
  • Simple design
  • Good quality screen
  • Decent performance
  • Quick rear fingerprint scanner
  • Takes good selfies and daytime pictures

REASONS NOT TO BUY

  • Battery charges slow
  • Slow loading apps
  • Takes poor pictures at night

A very affordable best budget Android alternative is the Motorola Moto E6 Plus. This comes with a 6.1-inch screen, available in two models with a good performance processor, a dual-camera setup, and reliable battery life.

This is by far the cheapest smartphone here on this list and for good reason. It’s just another standard android smartphone, recommended for those who want to spend as little money possible and still get a premium-looking, decent performance phone at that price.

The screen is decent to look at. Battery life is great too but takes a while to charge up. Performance is great but lags if too many apps are store in memory. And with the camera, it takes decent pictures during the day but poor pictures at night.

Overall, If you want a really cheap, standard smartphone with no complex extras and features, then this one’s for you. This can be another phone you can give to your kids or people that don’t want a complicated phone.

Oneplus 6T

  • Display: 6.41 inches, AMOLED touchscreen (1080 x 2340)
  • OS: Android 9.0 (Pie)
  • CPU: Snapdragon 845
  • Internal: 128/256GB
  • RAM: 6/8GB RAM
  • MainCam: 16MP, f/1.7 (wide) + 20MP, f/1.7 (wide)
  • SelfieCam: 16 MP, f/2.0 (wide)
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po, 3700 mAh
  • Weight: 185 g
  • Release Date: November 2018
  • Overall Rank: 4.4 out of 5

REASON TO BUY

  • A responsive on-screen fingerprint scanner
  • Good quality display
  • Decent gaming phone
  • Great fast charging
  • Sleek phone design
  • Good battery life
  • Takes good quality pictures

REASONS NOT TO BUY

  • Higher phone price for a budget mid-range
  • No 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • No wireless charging
  • Camera night mode needs work
  • No micro SD to expand storage

Introducing the next best budget Android phone, the OnePlus 6T. Release late in 2018, it’s an old 2-year smartphone that comes with a 6.4-inch display with a fingerprint scanner on-screen, with a Snapdragon processor, a dual-camera setup, and a 3700mAh battery pack.

Out of all the Android budget smartphones here, this one’s more expensive, and for good reasons. One, there are unique tech features on the phone that other budget smartphones lack, such as the on-screen fingerprint scanner.

And second, it comes with good upgrades from its OnePlus 6 predecessor, making it a good pick from the rest.

It may have the latest tech, but it may not get many sales because of a few key things, which I find disturbing. One, there’s no option to expand storage, and two no headphone jack, unless you’ve got cash to get a headphone adapter.

So who’s it for? Well, if you want a smartphone that’s way cheaper than the high-end phones, has better tech than other budget phones, and competes well with other budget mid-range name brands, then yes, this one is for you. Check it out by clicking on the link above.

Last Verdict

If you seriously looking for a smartphone that functions the bare minimum and meets your criteria at an affordable price, then one of these Android smartphones is for you. They all have great designs, decent phone performance, good screen display, and good battery life.

If I was to choose, I would respond with the following:

Samsung has confirmed only two models released with emphasis on internal storage, namely 128GB and 512GB models. It’s also packed with standard high-end features such as wireless charging; water and dust resistance; an on-screen fingerprint scanner; 4K image and video capture; etc. The price is high. • Up to 16GB of phone memory
    • 8K image capture and video recording
    • Huge 5000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging

The next smartphone in the Samsung Galaxy S20 series is the ‘big brother’ Samsung S20 Ultra. This phone comes with an even bigger 6.9-inch display with a quad camera and a 5000 mAh battery. Now you see I call it the ‘big brother’. This one has all the makes to take the top prize this year. It comes with a good quality high-resolution camera, with up to an insane zoom function. It’s like a little micro telescope that has shrunk into a mobile phone. It’s also packed with high-end features such as fast wireless charging; water and dust resistance; an on-screen fingerprint scanner; a high-quality display; etc. The list is endless. But the sad thing is that it’s the most expensive smartphone today.

Verdict

These smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy S20 series are great: they come with good quality features and great design. But there’re things I feel I should voice out. Firstly, most of the major internal hardware is the same, with the exception of hardware exclusive to the U.S. Market. I don’t understand why we cannot all get the same hardware specs in all regions.

Secondly, it’s understandable that the latest Samsung phone prices are pretty high, but with very few changes between the three S20/S20+/S20 Ultra models, one would have doubts if the phones are worth the purchase.

Thirdly, the added camera quality and features are the main big change here with promises to enhance the capturing of videos and images. Sounds like Samsung’s competing with the latest iPhone smartphones, increasing the competition. As a tech junkie, I’d say get it. If you have the money, get it. If you a fan of Samsung smartphones go and get it.

For normal phone users, I would advise you to wait until the price goes down for these Samsung smartphones. There are many other alternatives right now to feast your eyes on. And because of the latest mobile releases, prices for older model phones will surely decrease.

Closing Off

These are great releases in the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Samsung has come with a better release than the S10 series smartphones with an emphasis on pumping up the camera quality.
