What We Ought to Know about Samsung Gaming Laptops

Did you know that Samsung has its own series of gaming laptops? Well, they do, and there are three models. Three gaming laptops to choose from, code name: Odyssey, and they all differ in price, hardware specs, and design. Let’s see if these Samsung gaming laptops are worth your investment.

Samsung Gaming Laptop Odyssey (9750H/GTX1650)

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-9750H | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

The first Samsung gaming laptop is the entry-level Odyssey (9750H/GTX1650). Out of the three gaming laptops, it’s the most affordable and a great gaming laptop to buy if you have a tight budget.

The gaming laptop comes with a 15-inch full HD display, with a normal QWERTY keyboard and touchpad, and is available with a nice silver matte finish.

Internally, the Samsung gaming laptop is powered by a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor, with 16GB of system memory, internal storage of 512GB SSD, and comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series graphics card or GPU. To finish off, it’s preinstalled with Windows 10 operating system.

To me, this is a good gaming laptop. It has good hardware components that contribute to the overall great system performance, and to top it off, the graphics card gives it that extra gorgeous visual and great gameplay.

For an entry-level gaming laptop, it’s priced above US$1000 which puts it in the mid-range price range. The hard drive is not bad at over 500GB and it’s an SSD, meaning windows and apps will most definitely boot faster.  The NVIDIA graphics card is good but not the best, so it can handle PC games but you’ll need to tweak the graphic settings in-game.

Overall, the first entry Samsung gaming laptop has a good set of specs making it a powerful gaming laptop. If you are looking for an affordable gaming laptop and can afford this midrange price, then this may be the one for you. Click down here below to find out more and to purchase it.

Samsung Gaming Laptop Odyssey Z

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-8750H | 16GB DDR4 | 256GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

The next Samsung gaming laptop is the middle child of the three; the Samsung gaming laptop called Odyssey Z. Externally, it comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD screen, with a RGB back-lit keyboard and touchpad on the side, and designed with a grey titan finish.

Inside it comes with an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of system memory, 256GB SSD hard drive, and comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series graphics card or GPU. It comes with Windows 10 operating system preinstalled in the gaming laptop.

This gaming laptop also comes with a good hardware spec, that has the same processor and memory, but a smaller hard drive but a more powerful graphics card.

It’s a lot more expensive, definitely puting it in the midrange price range. The internal hard drive has less storage capacity, but with the more powerful graphics card, it will boost gaming graphics and performance, making gaming better and more enjoyable.

Overall, the middle child Samsung gaming laptop has a more powerful graphics card with good system performance, but the price and smaller hard drive may cause gamers to look elsewhere. If this one is in your budget and want a better gaming experience, then consider getting this gaming laptop. Click here below to find out more..

Samsung’s Premium Gaming Laptop Odyssey

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-8750H | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

Now here’s Big brother. The Headliner. The premium Samsung gaming laptop. This gaming laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display with an RGB backlit keyboard and touchpad, comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home, and is available in a gorgeous jet-black finish.

Inside is an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of system memory, 512GB SSD internal storage, and comes with one of NVIDIA’s top market GeForce RTX series graphics GPU.

The big brother gaming laptop here also has good hardware specs, which means that this laptop has good system performance. The hard drive is fine at more than 500GB, and the graphics card is more powerful than the three. The more powerful the graphics card, the better the gaming performance, the better the gaming experience.

The price of the Samsung gaming laptop is not that high but it’s more affordable than the other powerful laptops. One drawback is that other similar spec gaming laptops have bigger displays with better quality, yet this one is 15-inch. It would be better as a 17-inch.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that has a good system and gaming performance, but with a 15-inch screen and is more affordable, then this one is for you. Click here below to take a look and the opportunity to purchase it.

My Thoughts

These three Samsung gaming laptops each come with similar hardware specs meaning great performance for daily usage and gaming.

Sadly, they each have the same screen size, which is okay for the two entry and midrange gaming laptops, but not for the premium jet black model. It would be better off if the big brother came with a bigger screen display, like a 17-inch, because a bigger display would mean better quality features, meaning better graphics, better game-play, and better gaming experience.

Overall, Samsung has a good collection of gaming laptops. If you like what you see, and want to try it out, then click on the icon buttons to link you to get more info and to purchase.

My overall choice would have to be the big brother Samsung gaming laptop. It comes with a good hardware spec, one of the best graphics GPU, comes at an affordable price, and looks good in black.

Five Ways to Prevent a Common Laptop Problem or Two

et’s be real. Laptops are expensive. Over time, they will start to give you problems. With more and more powerful laptops releasing if you can afford one that’s awesome. Getting one will mean you having to gain much-needed skills and knowledge on ways to take good care of it because it’s a valuable asset to you.

So, if you are having a laptop problem or two, here are five tricks and tactics to help prevent common laptop problems from happening in the future.

1) Overheating

This is a common laptop problem. As you use the laptop for long periods of time don’t your hands feel warm when you rest your hands on the keyboard or on the laptop?

Don’t worry, you won’t get burnt but you need to note this. There are components inside that heat up, so a cooling fan is installed to reduce overheating.

As it gets used over the years the cooling fan starts to clog up, then it starts to lose its function. It becomes noticeable when either the laptop suddenly shuts down during use or it stops powering up entirely.

To minimize this from happening, you need to keep your laptop well ventilated and elevated at all times whilst using it.

Take note of the following laptop solutions:

Place your Laptop on a Hard Surface

The cooling unit is positioned at the bottom of the laptop, so it is important to always place your laptop on a hard, flat surface.

Soft surfaces such as pillows, cushions, or carpets, all cling underneath the surface and cut off possibilities of ventilation. The more ventilated and elevated the laptop is, the less likely it will overheat.

Get an Adjustable Laptop Stand with a Cooling Unit

It’s an affordable unit that lets your laptop rest on it and it activates an additional cooling fan to cool the laptop from underneath. It will keep your laptop elevated, and well ventilated.

2) HD Drive Breakdown

The next laptop problem is choosing the best hard drive. The hard disk market is pretty competitive as we consumers want more storage space to store information. Manufacturers are focusing on supplying hard disk drives with more quantity of space, but end up making sacrifices of quality.

Unless they have come up with a way to increase the quality, the bigger the number of storage offered, the more problems you will experience in the future.

Here are some laptop solutions:

Less Storage is Best

When buying a laptop or notebook, get one with either a 500GB or a 1TB HDD or SSD. Most of them nowadays come with less than 500GB of storage because now we have access to cloud storage.

Know your Product

Consider doing research to find out the name of the hard drive brand manufacturer, and check out product reviews to find out if their devices are of high quality.

3) Power Unit Problems

Another laptop problem is damage to the power unit. The power unit is responsible to help convert and manage overall power and voltage in your laptop. Any changes in the voltage can cause damage to your power unit which will damage the laptop.

To prevent this, here are some laptop solutions:

Stick to using the AC adaptor that comes with your laptop

If it gets damaged, you going to need to purchase a new one from local your computer dealer and make sure it supports your laptop brand.

Overheating will also cause damage to your laptop’s power unit

Once again it’s important to keep your laptop offs it doesn’t do damage to surrounding hardware components. Check the information above on methods to minimize or prevent overheating.

Get a good quality laptop bag

Dropping the laptop will also cause damage to the power unit. It happens unfortunately to the best of us. I suggest getting a good and durable laptop bag, which has special protective features.

4) Unchangeable/Dead Battery

The next laptop problem is damage to the battery. If your battery does not charge your laptop it could be one of two scenarios: 1) Your laptop battery is not working anymore and needs to be replaced or 2) Your AC adaptor is not working.

Both of these items can be replaced and are available for purchase from the laptop manufacturer. Modern laptops today, especially the 2-in-1 laptops and Chromebooks do not come with removable batteries as they have better battery power and long battery life.

As a result, if this happens I suggest either replace the AC adapter or invest in an affordable laptop such as a 2-in-1 or a Chromebook.

5) Touch-pad Sensitivity

The next laptop problem is issues with the touchpad. If you are experiencing problems with your touch-pad being too sensitive, try doing the following:

  • 1) Click to open ‘Control Panel’ on Windows and find ‘Hardware and Sounds’.
  • 2) Under ‘Hardware and Sounds’, click ‘View devices and printers.
  • 3) Right-click on the laptop icon, a menu will appear then click on ‘Mouse Settings’.
  • 4) Choose the ‘Device Settings’ tab on top of the window and navigate to find the Sensitivity settings and adjust according to your preference.

Final Thoughts

Now that you know how to prevent common laptop problems, you are in a better position to know what to do if things go wrong with your laptop. If all else fails, then take to a computer technician to see what the problem is.

Get rid of viruses is a good way to optimize your laptop. With all the viruses and unwanted software out there such as malware, spyware, or ransomware that can harm your laptop, it is a good idea to get a good anti-virus to secure your files and your system.

Windows 10 already has an anti-virus named Windows Defender, but you must also consider third-party anti-virus software, such as AVG, Avast, Norton, etc., as it comes with additional security features.

6) Backup, Backup, Backup

I cannot stress this enough, backup, backup, backup! Windows has a backup feature that lets you select a particular drive, folder, or files, and a scheduling feature to backup and restore data from the hard drive or an external hard drive. This is a good strategy to optimize your laptop.

7) Default Apps

Here you can set the software or applications installed to open emails, an internet browser, music player, photo viewer, etc. From the windows icon on the lower left of the screen, click it, find and click ‘Settings’, then ‘Apps’, then ‘Default Apps’.
