What We Ought to Know about Samsung Gaming Laptops

Did you know that Samsung has its own series of gaming laptops? Well, they do, and there are three models. Three gaming laptops to choose from, code name: Odyssey, and they all differ in price, hardware specs, and design. Let’s see if these Samsung gaming laptops are worth your investment.

Samsung Gaming Laptop Odyssey (9750H/GTX1650)

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-9750H | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

The first Samsung gaming laptop is the entry-level Odyssey (9750H/GTX1650). Out of the three gaming laptops, it’s the most affordable and a great gaming laptop to buy if you have a tight budget.

The gaming laptop comes with a 15-inch full HD display, with a normal QWERTY keyboard and touchpad, and is available with a nice silver matte finish.

Internally, the Samsung gaming laptop is powered by a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor, with 16GB of system memory, internal storage of 512GB SSD, and comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series graphics card or GPU. To finish off, it’s preinstalled with Windows 10 operating system.

To me, this is a good gaming laptop. It has good hardware components that contribute to the overall great system performance, and to top it off, the graphics card gives it that extra gorgeous visual and great gameplay.

For an entry-level gaming laptop, it’s priced above US$1000 which puts it in the mid-range price range. The hard drive is not bad at over 500GB and it’s an SSD, meaning windows and apps will most definitely boot faster.  The NVIDIA graphics card is good but not the best, so it can handle PC games but you’ll need to tweak the graphic settings in-game.

Overall, the first entry Samsung gaming laptop has a good set of specs making it a powerful gaming laptop. If you are looking for an affordable gaming laptop and can afford this midrange price, then this may be the one for you. Click down here below to find out more and to purchase it.

Samsung Gaming Laptop Odyssey Z

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-8750H | 16GB DDR4 | 256GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

The next Samsung gaming laptop is the middle child of the three; the Samsung gaming laptop called Odyssey Z. Externally, it comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD screen, with a RGB back-lit keyboard and touchpad on the side, and designed with a grey titan finish.

Inside it comes with an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of system memory, 256GB SSD hard drive, and comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series graphics card or GPU. It comes with Windows 10 operating system preinstalled in the gaming laptop.

This gaming laptop also comes with a good hardware spec, that has the same processor and memory, but a smaller hard drive but a more powerful graphics card.

It’s a lot more expensive, definitely puting it in the midrange price range. The internal hard drive has less storage capacity, but with the more powerful graphics card, it will boost gaming graphics and performance, making gaming better and more enjoyable.

Overall, the middle child Samsung gaming laptop has a more powerful graphics card with good system performance, but the price and smaller hard drive may cause gamers to look elsewhere. If this one is in your budget and want a better gaming experience, then consider getting this gaming laptop. Click here below to find out more..

Samsung’s Premium Gaming Laptop Odyssey

15.6-inch FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080) | Intel Core i7-8750H | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB SSD | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 | Windows 10 Home | 1-Year Warranty

Now here’s Big brother. The Headliner. The premium Samsung gaming laptop. This gaming laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display with an RGB backlit keyboard and touchpad, comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home, and is available in a gorgeous jet-black finish.

Inside is an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of system memory, 512GB SSD internal storage, and comes with one of NVIDIA’s top market GeForce RTX series graphics GPU.

The big brother gaming laptop here also has good hardware specs, which means that this laptop has good system performance. The hard drive is fine at more than 500GB, and the graphics card is more powerful than the three. The more powerful the graphics card, the better the gaming performance, the better the gaming experience.

The price of the Samsung gaming laptop is not that high but it’s more affordable than the other powerful laptops. One drawback is that other similar spec gaming laptops have bigger displays with better quality, yet this one is 15-inch. It would be better as a 17-inch.

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that has a good system and gaming performance, but with a 15-inch screen and is more affordable, then this one is for you. Click here below to take a look and the opportunity to purchase it.

My Thoughts

These three Samsung gaming laptops each come with similar hardware specs meaning great performance for daily usage and gaming.

Sadly, they each have the same screen size, which is okay for the two entry and midrange gaming laptops, but not for the premium jet black model. It would be better off if the big brother came with a bigger screen display, like a 17-inch, because a bigger display would mean better quality features, meaning better graphics, better game-play, and better gaming experience.

Overall, Samsung has a good collection of gaming laptops. If you like what you see, and want to try it out, then click on the icon buttons to link you to get more info and to purchase.

My overall choice would have to be the big brother Samsung gaming laptop. It comes with a good hardware spec, one of the best graphics GPU, comes at an affordable price, and looks good in black.

What You Need to Know About Gaming Laptop Specs

What you need to know about gaming laptop specs. So, you want a gaming laptop? That's great. Do you know why they're so good to have and why they are so powerful? If yes, great, you can scroll along with the article and see the latest gaming laptop deals. If not, don't worry because we will go eight things to help you know what gaming laptop specs in the gaming laptops are all about.

If you're new to gaming laptops, then it's a good idea to understand what the gaming laptop specs are all about and what they do. So read on and see what you must know about gaming laptop specs.

Intel Core or AMD Processor

Firstly, the most important gaming laptop spec to know is the processor. It is known as the brain of the gaming laptop because it runs everything. It also:

  • Determines how fast the gaming laptop works
  • Handles the overall basic and complex tasks
  • Optimizes photo editing, video rendering, and gaming

Intel and AMD are two of the best brands that make desktop or laptop processors today.

Many gaming communities prefer gaming laptops with Intel Core processors because of the better performance at the cost of a higher price. Whereas, others prefer gaming laptops with the AMD processors because it sells at an affordable price.

They both perform wells but if you notice, laptops with AMD processors are more affordable than Intel Core laptops.

Normally, top gaming laptops include either an Intel Core i7 or an AMD Ryzen R7 processor. They both do the job to make sure that the system performs to maximize gaming.

So, when you're looking for a gaming laptop, you're going to have to choose between an Intel or an AMD processor. The better processor for performance is Intel but it costs more, but gaming laptops with an AMD processor are more affordable.

Which one you choose, is up to you. Many gamers prefer the high-performance Intel Core processor, but they are both made for high performance, even in gaming laptops.

NVIDIA or ATI GPU

The next thing to know about gaming laptop specs is the GPU (the Graphics Processing Unit).

The GPU in gaming laptops, and graphics cards in desktops, send back and forth electronic signals to your monitor or screen. From there it converts them to images that you see on screen. There are two types integrated and dedicated/discreet.

Integrated graphics use the system memory or RAM from the laptop or desktop computer to run, whereas dedicated graphics use their own source of system memory to run.

Gaming laptops come with both integrated and dedicated graphics but dedicated graphics are supplied by either Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon GPUs. The additional system memory, from dedicated GPU, runs to make the best use for gaming, video, and photo editing apps.

All you need to understand is that either one of the two GPU providers, Nvidia and ATI, is inside gaming laptops and helps to run PC games in gaming laptops using dedicated graphics.

My advice, get a gaming laptop with either at least a GeForce GTX 1060 from Nvidia or an ATI Radeon 7730M. If you can get a better GPU, that's well and good but they tend to cost more. Overall, the top-range GPUs are better and will provide a better gaming performance.

Upgrade RAM or System Memory

Thirdly, the next thing to understand about gaming laptop specs is the system memory or RAM (Random Access Memory).

It helps to store information that the laptop or desktop computer is actively using for fast and easy access. The more apps you open up and use at one time, the more system memory the laptop needs.

Gaming laptops nowadays come with at least 8GB of RAM. That's the minimum if you want a good gaming experience. Check the hardware spec to make sure it says 8GB upwards. Also check if you have the option of upgrading the system memory, from 8 to 16GB or 32GB for example. It helps to add more to the increase in the overall system performance.

Internal Storage Space

So how much data, documents, media, and even PC games do you want to store on your hard drive? The next thing to know about gaming laptop specs is the internal storage space.

With internal storage, make sure you get a big enough hard drive to store your PC games and system apps or software. Nowadays, gaming laptops come with either 512GB or 1TB of internal storage, so any of those is great. When your hard drive gets full, you can either delete software or get extra storage by getting an external hard drive.

Check the hardware spec as well to see if it's either HDD or SSD. HDD can store up to 2TB of data but SSDs access information faster. So you either want more internal storage space but slow access to information or less internal storage but faster information access. yours.

In the future, you never know that one day we can get laptops with more SSD internal storage. Keep a lookout.

Warranties and Guarantees Offered

This is not part of the gaming laptop spec, but it's good to know the warranty of the gaming laptop so that if something goes wrong, and it's just a minor thing, you can send it back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Before you buy a gaming laptop, check the brand's warranties or guarantees.  It's best to see what they have on offer if things go wrong. Nowadays, it's much more preferable to get two years or more, for instance, all Dell laptops have a three-year warranty.

Just be aware of these warranties and guarantees they are offering, as it will prolong the life of your gaming laptop and will also grant you many more years of gaming.

Game-pad or Keyboard

Another thing to know is if you like gaming on a normal keyboard and mouse or a game-pad. It's not a gaming laptop spec, but it's a good option to know that if you like gaming on a game-pad, then there's an option for that.

So do you prefer playing PC games with a keyboard and mouse, or with a game-pad? I prefer a game-pad. Most PC gamers prefer the keyboard and mouse for first-person shooter games like Overwatch or Call of Duty, but hey, it's your call.

If you didn't know this, you can connect a game-pad to your gaming laptop. That's for those who prefer gaming with a game-pad. If you have a console and have the software, you can connect them to your laptop as well.

Check the Quality of the Display

Next is the size of the display, another gaming laptop spec to consider. Gaming laptops that are 17 or 18-inch have better quality visuals, but are heavier to carry. 13 or 14-inch laptops are lighter, more portable and easier to carry, but lack the high features of bigger laptop displays.

So a gaming laptop with a bigger display is better if you want smoother game-play, best graphics, and texture quality, whereas a smaller screen gaming laptop is better for you if you like gaming on the go.

Touchscreen for Gaming Laptops

The next gaming spec to know is the consideration f getting a touchscreen gaming laptop.

A touchscreen laptop is a good idea, as it lets you interact with a laptop like a tablet. But it's not a good idea with a gaming laptop. Why?

Two reasons: (1) It drains more battery power than normal laptops, especially during long gaming sessions, and (2) It's going to make your laptop display look all glossy unless you looking at a shiny screen.

If you must get one, then you better invest in a 2-in-1 laptop or a tablet. It's lighter, has great all-day battery power, and is able to switch to tablet mode. Just make sure it has a good graphics card if you want a 2-in-1 gaming laptop.

Closing off

This is a good gaming laptop for a gamer looking for an affordable and can deliver an exciting gaming experience. I like the black chassis design with a green outline and shows its true colors on the keyboard.

Another exciting feature is the option of upgrading. If you’re tech-savvy you can easily upgrade it by replacing hardware components to boost it, making it a more powerful machine. The front-facing speakers deliver good quality sound as well just to liven up the gaming experience even more.

At 5 hours of battery life, it’s quite short, you’ll have to keep it plugged in if you plan to do long gaming sessions. Internal storage isn’t bad either but can be increased easily if you have a big enough microSD card.

Overall, it’s an affordable gaming laptop that falters with battery life but comes with a good hardware spec that delivers great gaming performance.

Lenovo Ideapad L340

OS: Windows 10 Home | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 | CPU: 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-9300H | Display: 15.6-inch display | Memory: 8GB SDRAM | Storage: 256GB SSD | Weight: 5.3 lbs (2.4kg)

Take your gaming to the next level with the Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6-inch gaming laptop. With 8GB system memory, together with an Intel i5 processor, it’s built to deliver good system performance and multitasking capabilities for programs and gaming. It comes with 256GB of internal storage which optimizes fast boot of programs, all enclosed in a black chassis with a blue-backlit keyboard.

The L340 is a good-performing laptop, with a good mid-range processor that delivers well. It’s a great laptop for day-to-day use but doesn’t expect insane graphics here for gaming. It falls short when gaming on high settings so it’s best to play games at lower graphic settings.

For tech-savvy, it’s easy to upgrade it if you want bigger storage space and more system memory. Just undo the screws at the bottom and you’re all set. There’s also the option of cleaning the fans just for maintenance’s sake.

Otherwise, for a cheaper gaming laptop, it’s a good bargain because it’s affordable, lightweight, and is a good performance laptop for everyday use. If you like it and want to know more, click here below.

Lenovo Legion Y540

OS: Windows 10 Home | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti | CPU: 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-9750H | Display: 17.3-inch | Memory: 16GB DDR4 SDRAM | Storage: 1TB SSD |  Weight: 6.26 lbs (2.8kg) | 5 hours battery life

Take the fight to new heights with the Lenovo Legion Y540 gaming laptop. It comes with a 17.3-inch Full HD display, with an Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB system memory to ensure responsive system performance, while the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card brings gorgeous textures and smooth game-play. It features a 1TB internal storage so you have ample space to store games, media, and other files.

The Legion Y540 is a great gaming laptop with 1) Great hardware spec that delivers great system performance thanks to the Intel i7 processor and the high 16GB system memory. 2) Perfect for pro games that want to take the gaming to new heights.

3) 1TB of internal storage from an SSD drive, that features fast-loading programs. 4) Decent sound output from well-placed front speakers. 5) The gorgeous blue back-lit keyboard just makes it look good. 6) Thin bezel edges on the top and on the sides of the screen. 7) Opens up to a full 180 degrees.

Here are a few things you need to be aware of: 1) The battery life is 5 hours, not a lot of time to game on the go. 2) Keyboard keys get uncomfortable after a long typing session. 3) It’s a little more expensive leaving it out of the budget gaming laptop range.

Well, this one is strictly for gaming. Sure, you can take to the office to get some work done but stick to short notes and brief emails. Then for long gaming sessions get a game controller.

Either than that, if you are looking for an affordable but more powerful gaming laptop, and can handle a short battery life, then the Lenovo Legion Y540 is the gaming laptop for you.

Dell G3 15

OS: Windows 10 | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti | CPU: 9th-gen Intel® Core™ i5-9300H | Display: 15.6-inch Full HD (1920×1080) | 8GB SDRAM | Storage: 512GB SSD | Weight: 5.2 lbs (2.4kg) | 7 hours battery life

Get your game on with the Dell G3 gaming laptop. It comes with an NVIDIA GeForce that runs the latest gaming titles, a 15.6-inch full HD screen, 8GB of system memory, 512GB of internal storage, and an Intel i5 processor. The Dell G3 is one of the most affordable gaming laptops to date. It will certainly entertain you cause of its good performance, decent battery life, and decent sound quality.

It’s pretty slim too so it can fit well in your laptop bag and is lightweight as well. Unfortunately, it suffers because of the average quality 15.6-inch display as well as the low response when typing from the keyboard. My advice when gaming, connect it to an HDTV as it has an HDMI slot, and also use a game controller. So if you’re looking for an affordable gaming laptop, then consider the Dell G3 as an option.

Final Thoughts

So here they are, the 7 entry-level affordable gaming laptops to look out for this year. The cheaper may not be the best but PC games can work well after finding the best graphic setting. If I would recommend, I would say check on these 3 gaming laptops.

1)  HP Omen – It’s right under the $1000 price range. It can play the latest PC games at medium or high graphic settings on a full HD screen. The battery life is quite decent. It comes with a high-performance processor.

2) Dell G3 15 – It’s the most affordable on the list. It has a better graphics card than the ones listed here with more graphic features. It comes with decent SSD storage and decent battery life.

3) MSI GS63 –  it’s an older laptop but can play the latest PC Games, and is still a well-known bestseller. It has an interesting and unique design.

Those are my recommendations for the most affordable gaming laptops. Feel free to click on the links above to find out more about the laptop, and if you want, you can order it online. If you have read this far, thank you so much. Leave comments below. Take it easy. Stay safe until next time.

I’m impressed with the overall gaming performance thanks to the hardware inside and the overall price range. This is one of the pro gamers.

The 15-inch screen is not bad but the bezels are thick, making it look somewhat smaller. The system memory is low at 8GB for a gaming laptop which will limit multitasking, and it’s quite heavy weighing almost 3kg. But if you can handle it, I’d say get it.

Guide to Better Gaming on Laptops

Need a gaming laptop guide? , you come to the right place. As more PC games are released and become more complex, it’s important that you look at the minimum and maximum hardware specs before buying it.

The reason is that you don’t want to buy a PC game, then get home to your gaming laptop, install it, and find out it doesn’t work.

There are also factors to consider even if it does work in your gaming laptop to consider and to be aware of.

So here are five tips and tactics to do to make your overall gaming experience on your gaming laptop better.

1. Don’t Buy PC Games That Demand High Hardware Specs

The first tip is to get PC games that demand low hardware specs than the specs on your gaming laptop. For example, if a PC game specs Intel i5 and your gaming laptop have an Intel i7, then you should be fine. After you install the PC game, it will work well on your gaming laptop.

Buying PC games with a less demanding hardware spec will run smoother and faster.  Your processor, system memory, and GPU (graphics processing unit), will work less hard and generate less heat. This means faster cooling, and less use of energy, that can prolong the gaming laptop’s life.

2. Tone Down the Screen Resolution

For the best gaming performance, especially with high-end games, it’s best to tone down the screen resolution. These are the numbers that are formatted like so, for example, “1024×768”.

You do this by clicking the Settings or Options button in-game, look for the Screen resolution option, and click on lower screen resolution settings. For example, you can switch from “1366×768” to “1024×768”. The screen resolution will be lower but will increase the refresh rate, making for smoother and better game-play.

This will also help your gaming laptop to handle the visual quality of the game so to better your gaming experience and better your frames per second.

Another tip is to go to the in-game settings menu, look for the display or graphics settings, tone down the graphics settings to lower detail such as shadow effects and water effects and to turn off the anti-aliasing.

3. Keep the Gaming Laptop in Top Condition

As you install more software and games into your gaming laptop it will start to under perform slower, making it run slower. You can either do a Disk clean-up that comes with Windows 10 or use free third-party software such as CCleaner.

Also, make sure that you close all apps running in the background of your windows system to increase the system memory, and also to use Task Manager by pressing “Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and check to see which apps are using the most CPU and memory.

Make sure that drivers for your gaming laptop are up to date, especially the display drivers for your graphics card.

Invest in buying a game-pad or use your existing console controller. It’s another way to better your gaming experience as most games work best with a game-pads.

The drivers for the Xbox One game-pad comes with Windows. For Playstation controllers, they work just as well but you may need to find drivers or a third party software for it to work on your gaming laptop.

5. Be Aware of the Gaming Laptop’s Battery

Playing games on your gaming laptop will take much of your laptop’s battery power.

To extend your gaming experience: you can lower the screen brightness from your screen as much as you can but not to ruin your gaming experience.

You can set the power plan options of your gaming laptop to “balanced” (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options), and keep your laptop plugged in with the laptop’s battery adapter.
