A recent ICT convention has revealed more than forty new laptops that are due for release this year. They come packed with the latest techno trends and hardware, such as the latest NVIDIA graphic cards, bigger screens, slick and innovative designs, and the latest technologies.
From these laptops, five were chosen to be the most interesting, trending, and heavily loaded with innovations and new hardware specs to look forward to. Here they are named and briefly explained below.
RAZER BLADE 15 ADVANCED
CPU: 8th Generation Intel i7; Display: 15 inch FHD (1980×1080), 144Hz (4K touch screen, 60Hz); Memory: 16GB (up to 64GB RAM); Storage: 512GB SSD; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design
The first gaming laptop revealed is the Razer Blade 15 Advanced that includes a 15-inch Full HD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB memory (upgradable to 64GB), and 512GB SSD storage.
In terms of graphics, the laptop will come in three versions that will include three of NVIDIA’s new graphics cards, namely the GeForce RTX 2060, the GeForce RTX 2070, and the GeForce RTX 2080. The keyboard will include RGB backlighting and an infra-red camera on the top of the screen that supports facial recognition technology.
The external design is the same as the 2018 version, so there are not many noticeable changes. Input ports include HDMI, 2xUSB, USB-C, and much more. For a more explicit display, there will be a 4K touch screen version releasing later this year but will have a refresh rate of 60Hz.
There is no information on the battery life and a release date of the gaming laptop, but it will be available soon during the year. The starting price is high at $2300.
ASUS ROG MOTHERSHIP
CPU: 8th Generation Intel i7; Display: 17 inch FHD (1980×1080) 144Hz; Memory: up to 24GB RAM; Storage: 512GB SSD; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design
The second gaming laptop revealed is the ASUS ROG Mothership, which looks more like a 2-in-1 laptop, as it comes with a detachable red-backlit keyboard with a touchpad, and a kick-stand at the bottom to keep the screen upright.
It will come with a 17-inch Full HD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, up to 24GB memory (upgradable to 64GB), and storage of 512GB SSD.
Other features will include a standard camera with facial recognition technology, input ports that include an SD reader, HDMI, USB-C, 2xUSB, Ethernet, and much more.
All the hardware components are included behind the display. As it stands upright it improves the cooling and ventilation of the laptop. There are no details yet of the price of the device, nor the release date. It will be made available soon during the year.
MSI GS75 STEALTH
CPU: 8th Generation Intel i7; Display: 17 inch FHD (1980×1080) 144Hz; Memory: up to 32GB RAM; Storage: 512GB SSD; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design, or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, or NVIDIA GeFroce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design
The third gaming laptop revealed is the MSI Stealth GS75 that will come with a 17-inch full HD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, and memory upgradable to 32GB.
It is an ultra-slim model with a height measured at 0.75 inches (19.5mm) which is the same as the MSI GS65 Stealth gaming laptop, a backlit RGB keyboard, and weighs at 2.25kg (5lbs). It can also support Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional.
There are three versions of the gaming laptop:
- 8SF includes 8GB DDR6, NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPU with Max-Q Design
- 8SE includes 6GB DDR6, NVidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU
- 8SG includes 8GB DDR6, NVidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU with Max-Q Design
So far, there are no pricing details, nor release date info revealed. It will be made available soon during the year.
DELL ALIENWARE AREA 51M
CPU: 9th Generation Intel Core i9; Display: 17.3 inch FHD (1980×1080), 144Hz G-Sync; Memory: up to 64GB RAM; Storage: 512GB SSD; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design
The fourth upcoming reveal is the Dell Alienware Area 51M gaming laptop that lets you upgrade the processor, graphics card, memory, SSD storage, and other hardware, without affecting the warranty. It is built with an aluminum alloy which drastically lowers the weight of the laptop.
In terms of performance, it comes with a 9th generation Intel Core i9 processor, upgradable to 64GB of memory, 144Hz G-Sync technology, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, a 17.3-inch screen with an option of 60Hz or 144Hz refresh rate.
The inputs ports are 3xUSB, USB-C, audio jack, and headphone/microphone jack, HDMI, Ethernet, and much more, and the keyboard is a backlit RGB. The release date for this laptop is scheduled for 29 January 2019, with a starting price of $2549. More info will be released soon but here is the laptop’s spec summary.
ASUS ZEPHYRUS S GX701
CPU: 8th Generation Intel Core i7; Display: 17.3 inch FHD (1980×1080), 144Hz G-Sync; Memory: 8GB (upgradable to 64GB); Storage: 512GB SSD; Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design
The fifth is the ASUS Zephyrus S GX701, which comes with a 17-inch, full HD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, an Intel Core 8th generation i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, up to 24GB memory, and storage of up to 1TB SSD.
Other features include an External camera; an Ultra-slim at a height of 18.7mm; and a Windows 10 Professional operating system. It weighs 2.7kgs.
The unique feature of this gaming laptop is that it can transition between two modes: G-sync mode to synchronize the graphics card to deliver better, smoother gameplay and full performance gaming; and the Optimus mode to save processing power and to optimize the laptop for daily working activities.
There has been no mention of a price nor a release date, but as the coming days go, it will be made available soon.
